Yamaha audio-video receivers are equipped with a standard 1/4-inch audio jack in the front of the component for private listening through headphones. This jack can accommodate any standard set of headphones with a 1/4-inch plug on the end of the cable, or an adapter available at electronics stores can be used to convert the jack to work with the 1/8-inch mini-plug common on headphones designed for personal audio devices such as an iPod or MP3 player.

      Press and hold the "Minus" (-) volume button on the receiver remote control to turn down the volume to zero.

      Insert the 1/4-inch plug on the end of a standard headphone cable into the headphone jack on the lower left corner of the receiver's front control panel. To connect with headphones using a mini-plug, insert the 1/4-inch plug on the adapter into the receiver's headphone jack, then insert the 1/8-inch mini-plug on the headphone cable into the other side of the adapter.

      Increase the volume gradually to a comfortable level while wearing the headphones to enjoy private listening.
