How to Upload Photos on Hotmail

The Microsoft Office Live Hotmail webmail system uses an attachment tool called Photo Upload. Photo Upload allows you to browse and upload pictures easier than the old file attachment system. It depends on Active X, a small program that Internet Explorer uses to access your computer files. You must install Active X to use Photo Upload. However, once you give Active X permission to install, Photo Upload will upload multiple photo files at once.

Instructions

    • 1

Log in to your Windows Live Hotmail email account.

    • 2

Click “New” in the Inbox section to compose a new email message. Click “Attach” to open the dropdown menu. Select “Photo” from the list.

    • 3

Click the yellow message bar at the top of the screen if you have not already installed Microsoft Active X control. Click “Install” in the Windows Explorer window that appears. Skip this step if you have already installed Active X.

    • 4

Browse the available photos on your computer. Click each picture you want to attach to the email message. Click “Upload Now.” Click “Send.”

Tips & Warnings

  • If you do not want to install the Active X control, you cannot use Photo Upload, which allows you to preview and upload multiple files at once. Instead of clicking “Photo,” click “File.” Browse your computer for the photo file you want to upload. Click “OK” and then click “Send.”
