How to Access a Nintendo DS Lite Web Browser

Introduced as an add-on accessory for the DS, the Nintendo Web Browser allows DS and DS Lite owners to utilize the handheld's wireless network functionality to access the Internet with the DS's touch screen interface.

Two versions of the browser exist, with one designed for the original DS and one for the redesigned DS Lite. The DS Lite is compatible with both versions of the Web browser, while the standard DS is only compatible with the original browser. Note that the DS and DS Lite browsers both require a memory expansion pak, inserted into the Game Boy slot on the handheld. Both browsers utilize the same setup process.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn off the DS Lite. Insert the DS browser card into the system's game card slot, pressing until it locks into place, and the memory expansion pak into the Game Boy slot on the bottom of the system. Turn on the handheld.

    • 2

Tap the touch screen at the system's initial warning screen to proceed to the DS main menu. Touch "Nintendo DS Browser" to begin the browser program. The system will proceed to the Wi-Fi connection screen for initial setup. If you have already established a wireless Internet connection for gameplay with the DS, you will not need to establish a Wi-Fi connection and may skip to step 4.

    • 3

Tap "Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection Settings," followed by one of the connection slots listed. Tap "Search for Access Point" and touch the network you wish to use from the list displayed. For networks displaying a red lock icon, you will need the access password, provided by the network owner. Once the network is selected and any necessary password is entered, the connection is established and the browser will proceed with the setup process.

    • 4

Tap the language you wish to use for the browser keyboard from the available options and touch the "Check mark" icon to proceed.

    • 5

Tap your current time zone, and touch the "Check mark" icon to set the browser's time for your location.

    • 6

Tap the password text entry field to set the password necessary for browser use and touch the "Check mark" icon to proceed. Leave the field empty and tap the "Check mark" icon if you wish to proceed without a password. The browser will now be fully configured and ready for use.
