An E-reader eliminates the need for bookshelves.

An E-Reader is obviously convenient in that you can store many books inside without having the luxury of shelf space. While this device may seem intimidating to someone with little electronics experience, it is actually quite simple to use. Once you learn the correct functions and corresponding buttons, you will be able to master your E-Reader.

      Open the battery cover and install the battery as shown on the diagram in the slot. Plug the USB cable into your computer and let the battery charge. If this is the first time using the device, leave it in for a minimum of 12 hours. The indicator light will turn green when the battery is fully charged.

      Press the on/off button. Your E-Reader will power up. The first screen displayed will be the start-up screen, immediately followed by the bookshelf screen, where your titles are displayed.

      Plug the E-Reader into your computer via a USB cable. Your computer will display a removable disk icon in the “My Computer” window.

      Open the directory where your eBooks are stored.

      Drag the eBooks you want to transfer to your E-Reader from the file to the removable disk icon in the “My Computer” window. Since your E-Reader is now recognized as a storage device, the files will transfer over.

      Open the eBook you want to read on your E-Reader from the bookshelf screen. Browse the available eBooks and press the corresponding number of the book you want to read. If the book you want is not displayed on the bookshelf screen, hit next to browse through multiple pages until you find the one you want.

      Press the next or previous button or move the thumb wheel up or down to turn a page. Hold the next/previous button down to skip ahead or back 10 pages.

      Press menu, then one to skip to the first page. Press menu, then two to skip to the last page.

      Press menu, then three to initialize the jump to a page function. Use the keypad to type in the desired page number and press the menu button to go there. If you make a mistake typing in the page number, press exit to delete the last digit. If no digit is displayed, pressing exit will quit the function.

      Press eight repeatedly to zoom in and zoom out. There are five levels ranging from extra small to extra large. Press menu then six to alternate between portrait and landscape mode.

      Press any number one through five to bookmark a page. You must be on the page you want to bookmark before you press the button. You can save up to five bookmarks at a time. Press and hold six to see a list of all pages you’ve bookmarked.

      Press menu, then six when the bookshelf screen is displayed to open the settings menu. Here, you can manipulate key tones, language and font.

      Press the on/off button and hold for three seconds to turn the E-Reader off.
