Learn to tune your acoustic guitar with a Korg CA-30 chromatic tuner.

A guitarist of any experience level must have a solid understanding of how to tune a guitar. The Korg CA-30 chromatic tuner is a basic electronic tuning device that allows for some good practice. Most guitarists tune their guitars to standard tuning, which is, from the thickest to thinnest string, E-A-D-G-B-e. There are several other tunings that deviate from standard, but it is important to gain a competent understanding of standard tuning before experimenting with other varieties.

Instructions

    • 1

Place the Korg tuner on a flat surface face-up about 2 to 4 feet from your acoustic guitar's opening. Press the red power button to turn on the tuner.

    • 2

Use one hand to pluck the thickest string, the E-string. The microphone on the tuner will pick up the sound. Loosen and tighten the tuning key until the letter "E" appears on the screen of the tuner. An arrow will move to the left and right of the screen indicating a flat or sharp note. A perfect tuning is achieved when the arrow lies in the center of the screen.
