How to Clean a Canon Camera Lens

How to Clean a Canon Camera Lens thumbnail
To extend the lifetime of your lens, clean it with a soft material to prevent scratches.

Cleaning your Canon camera lens makes your camera’s pictures come out at optimum quality. When you see the same spot on a set of pictures you take, you must clean the camera lens as soon as possible. Although it may seem simple, the cleaning material you use contributes much to the lifetime of your lens. If you want your lens to last years, choose a soft silky material, preferably one made for optical lens cleaning.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove any dust with a soft brush, such as a blower brush, carefully brushing the surface of your lens.

    • 2

Put a small quantity (about a drop or two) of a lens cleaning liquid or isopropyl alcohol on the cleaning cloth.

    • 3

Wipe your lens gently with a silky fabric that doesn’t leave fibers behind on the surface, until the dirty spot is gone. Use a lifting motion, rather than rubbing the cloth against the lens.

Tips & Warnings

  • Remember to use a lens cap whenever you are not shooting with your Canon camera lens.
