How to Remove Water Stains From Wood Walls
If water seeps into a wood wall, it can cause the wood to become discolored or water stained. Some water stains can be easily cleaned, whereas others may be permanent. The sooner the water is removed from the wood and the damage treated, the better the odds that the stain can be removed are. When cleaning the wood wall, it's important to not clean with any harsh chemicals or cleaning agents as they can further stain and discolor the wall. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Vinegar
- Olive Oil
- or Baking Soda
- Toothpaste
- Bowl
- Soft Cloth
- Sponge Towel
Instructions

Vinegar and Olive Oil

Combine one part vinegar and one part olive oil in a bowl.

Dip a cloth or sponge in the mixture. Following the grain of the wood, rub on the stain. Vinegar and olive oil will only work on fresh or light stains. If the stain has been set in or the wood is heavily discolored, vinegar will most likely not work.

Wipe the remaining oil and vinegar away using a clean, damp cloth.

Press a towel against the wood to soak up all moisture.
Baking Soda and Toothpaste

Combine equal parts white paste toothpaste with baking soda to create a paste mixture.

Dip a soft cloth in the paste. Rub the paste in a circular motion directly on the water stains for 5 minutes. Allow the paste to dry.

Wipe the paste off the wall using a clean, damp cloth. Repeat Step 2 and 3 until the stain is removed.

Press a towel against the wood to soak up all moisture.
