How to Install a Titan Electric Tankless Water Heater

Titan tankless water heaters are a popular brand of tankless water heaters that are meant to replace the bulky and inefficient traditional tank water heaters of yesteryear. Titan heaters are particularly small, barely the width of a can of soda, and just shy of the height of the two cans—compare that to the giant tank that weighs hundreds of pounds. The Titan is an electric water heater that uses the largest amperage circuits allowed by law in a residential home, so be sure to turn off the power before installing one.

  • Mount the Titan water heater on the wall using the mounting bracket that comes with it.

  • Attach the incoming cold water supply line to the input valve on the right side of the unit when you are facing the unit. If you use PVC pipe instead of metal pipe, you’ll use pipe glue to fasten it.

  • Attach the hot water output line similarly, to the left hand value, again either threading your metal pipe into the socket or using glue to fasten the PVC.

  • Twist the power wires onto the incoming six AWG electrical wire, attaching the black to black, white to white and the ground wire to the green screw on the frame of the Titan.

Tips & Warnings

  • Be sure to use a 60 amp, double-pole breaker as instructed by the Titan manufacturers.
