How to Place a Conference Call

Place a conference call with the standard cellular phone.

Conference calls are accomplished in many ways, including using computers and web-based applications to coordinate the entire procedure. If none of these options are available, it is still possible to place a conference call using a standard cellular phone. As long as all members of the conference have three-way calling activated on their phones, a conference call is possible at any time. Some cellular phones have a specialized conference call feature, but in most cases, this is not needed.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Place a call to the first member of the conference call.

    • 2

Dial the number of the next conference member, and connect by pressing the "Send/Talk" button. This will cause the primary call recipient to be placed on hold. The primary call may have to be put on hold before calling the new member. This depends on the type of phone and service provider.

    • 3

Press "Send" on the cell phone once to connect both call recipients after the second call has been connected. Three participants should be connected at this point.

    • 4

Connect another participant by having a member who has not yet made a three-way call repeat Steps 2 and 3.

    • 5

Repeat Steps 2 and 3 by participants who have not yet used their three-way feature, as needed, until all members are connected.

Tips & Warnings

  • If a member who has connected another recipient gets disconnected, any person who was contacted under that branch will be disconnected as well.
