1
Hang sheets or linens from your window. Any color you enjoy will do, but white sheets make nice curtains because they allow light into your room. Thread your curtain rod through the bottom hem of the panels for a look that could fool anyone. For something different, drape sheets over rod.

2
Recycle your linens. Old tablecloths, table runners, dresser scarves, tea towels, doilies and placemats make interesting curtains. If they do not have hems through which you can insert a rod, you can secure them to the rod with clear nylon thread or by simply pinning them in place.

3
Hang an inexpensive shower curtain. Attach curtains to your rods with shower curtain hooks or other items such as raffia, rope or ribbon.
-
4
Add flair to curtains you already own. Sew or glue lengths of ribbon several inches below the top of your curtains. Add buttons and additional trim as desired to embellish ribbon.
Another idea is to place matching decorative scarves along the top of your curtain rod to give your curtains an elegant look.
Sew or fuse fabric pieces to your curtains for an inexpensive way to change the look instantly. Choose fabrics that add texture to and contrast to the curtains you will be using.

5
Hang cheesecloth. Cut strips into the desired lengths and allow them to puddle on the floor. Dyed or not, this fabric adds texture to any décor for very little time and effort.
-
6
Use window frosting as a curtain. A heavy enough coat of this spray will protect you from prying eyes while leaving the inside of your home virtually untouched.
