To remove a doorbell from your home, you will need to remove two components: the bell and the button on the outside front door frame. The wires will remain in the wall and door frame after you have removed both components. Also, there will be holes in the wall and door frame after you have removed the button and the bell, which you should repair. Almost anyone can complete this job without prior experience and with no major tools.
Things You'll Need
- Screw driver
- Electrical tape
Turn the electrical breaker off that is wired to the doorbell to disconnect the electric current. Locate the doorbell and the doorbell button.
Remove the cover panel from the bell by pulling it off of the bell's frame. Remove the screws that are securing the frame to the wall using the screwdriver. Loosen the wire connections using the screwdriver and pull the wires from the connectors.
Separate the ground, positive and negative wires from each other. Place electric tape around the exposed wires and push the wires back into the wall. Ensure that the wires are completely covered to prevent a fire.
Remove the screws that are securing the doorbell button to the outside door frame using the screwdriver. Loosen the wire connections with the screwdriver and pull the wires from the button. Place electric tape around the tips of each wire as you did for the bell wires, and push them back into the wall.
