      Place the Mountaineer in "park" and open the trunk of the vehicle.

      Locate the plastic cover protecting the brake light bulb. Notice two screws securing the cover in place. Remove the two screws using the appropriate screwdriver. Pull the cover off and place to the side.

      Push the brake light bulb in and turn counter-clockwise to release the bulb from the socket. Discard the bulb.

      Align the replacement brake light bulb with the socket. Push the bulb down while twisting clockwise until the bulb locks into place. Place the cover back into position and replace the two screws. Tighten and secure the screws using the screwdriver. Repeat these steps for the opposite brake light, if needed. Close the trunk of the Mountaineer.
