Curly hair can be straightened naturally with milk.

If you have curly hair, you may wish to straighten it on occasion to make it more manageable or to try a new hairstyle. Permanent straighteners can be harsh on your hair and cause breakage. Instructions

    • 1

Start with clean, dry hair. This will help ensure the milk is not diluted with any water or hair products that you may already have in your hair. Brush or comb out your hair before you begin, to help reduce tangles.

    • 2

Put on some old clothing or use towels to protect your clothing so it isn't stained with milk. Milk has a tendency to cause odors in clothing, so be sure to wash your clothes promptly when you are finished.

    • 3

Pour 1/2 cup of milk into a spray bottle. Consider using a funnel to help prevent spillage.

    • 4

Separate your hair into four sections. Use hair clips to do this to prevent breakage caused by rubber bands.

    • 5

Begin with a bottom section of hair. Take the clip out, and comb your hair, while spraying with milk liberally. Continue to comb while spraying until the hair section is wet and straight.

    • 6

Repeat the process with the other bottom section of hair, and then the two top sections. Spray additional milk on your hair, working from top to bottom, and comb through. All of your hair should be saturated thoroughly.

    • 7

Leave the milk on your hair for approximately 20 minutes. Try to keep your hair straight while you wait for the milk to set. Avoid any unnecessary movement until the time is up.

    • 8

Wash and condition your hair as usual. Rinse it well to avoid any milk residue being left in your hair.

    • 9

Use a brush and blow dryer to finish straightening your hair. Pull the brush through your hair slowly while following the hair shaft closely with the blow dryer. Do this throughout your hair.
