How to Fix Cracks in a Concrete Floor
Concrete cracks can form because of extreme weather conditions, chemical reactions within the concrete materials and poor support beneath the concrete slabs. When cracks occur, they should be repaired immediately to prevent the risk of expansion to other parts of the concrete. Cracks must be repaired carefully as improper technique will produce a poor-looking finish that may not even solve the problem. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Chisel both sides of the crack at an outward angle to a depth of at least 1 inch with a chisel and hammer. The crack should be wider at the bottom than at the surface of the concrete. This V shape will ensure the concrete patching compound stays in place.
-
2
Clean out any loose debris from the crack with a wire brush. Do not worry if you are unable to get all of the debris out of the crack.
-
-
3
Brush a layer of bonding adhesive to both sides of the crack with a paintbrush. The adhesive will help keep the patching compound in place.
-
4
Mix a concrete patching compound according to the manufacturer's directions.
-
5
Work the patching compound into the crack with a trowel, being gentle to avoid damage. Fill the crack completely, without air pockets, to the surface.
-
6
Apply a thin layer of the compound to the top of the crack. Smooth it out until it is even with the rest of the concrete surface.
