Hair dye is designed to stain anything it comes in contact with. Of course, the ideal situation is one in which the hair dye only comes in contact with your hair. However, mistakes happen, especially when you dye your hair at home. Common hair dye stains occur on the forehead, neck, temples and hands. Things You'll Need
- Mild soap
- Water
- Towel
- Nail polish remover
- Cotton balls
- Toothpaste
- Toothbrush
- Petroleum jelly
- Moisturizer
Instructions

Nail Polish Remover

Wash your skin with mild soap and water to remove as much of the hair color as possible. Rinse your skin with warm water, and dry with a towel.

Apply nail polish remover to a cotton ball. Rub the hair dye stain with the cotton ball. Replace the cotton ball once it is colored with dye. Repeat until the hair dye stain is gone.

Wash your skin again with mild soap and water to remove the nail polish remover. Rinse your skin with warm water, and dry with a towel. Apply a facial moisturizer to prevent excessive drying from the nail polish remover.
Toothpaste

Wash your skin with mild soap and water to remove as much of the hair color as possible. Rinse your skin with warm water, and dry with a towel.

Squeeze a small amount of toothpaste onto a clean toothbrush. Gently scrub the hair color stains with the toothbrush and toothpaste until they are completely gone. Rinse well with warm water.

Wash your skin again with mild soap and water to remove the toothpaste. Rinse your skin with warm water, and dry with a towel.
Petroleum Jelly

Wash your skin with mild soap and water to remove as much of the hair color as possible. Rinse your skin with warm water, and dry with a towel.

Scoop out a small amount of petroleum jelly and rub it on the hair color stain. Continue to rub the stain until it is no longer visible.

Wash your skin again with mild soap and water to remove the petroleum jelly. Rinse your skin with warm water, and dry with a towel.

Tips & Warnings
To prevent hair color stains, apply petroleum jelly along your hairline, temple, forehead and neck. This will act as a barrier and prevent the hair color from bleeding onto your skin.
Use caution when applying nail polish remover near your eyes. If you get nail polish remover in your eyes, flush well with water and call your local emergency room.
