Whirlpool Estate Washer Troubleshooting

Save

The Whirlpool Estate Washer is a top-loading clothes washer designed for high-capacity laundry loads. Although the washer features eight different wash cycles and two different speed settings, the control panel has only three knobs. Using the Estate Washer is fairly straightforward; however, minor adjustments are sometimes necessary.

Things You'll Need

  • Level
  • Block of wood

Wash Basket Is Crooked

  • Place a level on top of the front of the washer and note whether the bubble within the level is between the two indicator lines. If the bubble is between the two lines, the two sides of the washer are level. If the bubble is to the left of the lines, the left side of the washer is higher than the right side. If the bubble is to the right of the lines, the right side is higher than the left.

  • Place the level on top of either side of the washer and note whether the bubble within the level is between the level’s two lines. If the bubble is between the two lines, the front and the back of the washer are level. If the bubble is closer to the back of the washer, the back of the washer is higher than the front. If the bubble is closer to the front of the washer, the front of the washer is higher than the back.

  • Lift the washer and place a block of wood between the washer and the ground, to access the washer’s adjustable feet. Turn the washer’s adjustable feet into the washer to lower one side, or away from the washer to raise the other side.

  • Recheck the level of the washer and make any final necessary adjustments to the adjustable feet.

Residue or Lint Clings to the Washed Load

  • Sort the clothes by color.

  • Sort the clothes again by lint givers, such as chenille and towels, and load attractors, such as synthetics and corduroy.

  • Select a water level that completely covers the items to be washed. The items must be able to move freely during the wash cycle. Note that you can change the water level setting in the middle of a wash cycle.

  • Follow the detergent manufacturer’s instructions to use the proper amount of detergent. Aside from cleaning, detergent holds lint in the water.

Wash Items are Wrinkled after Wash Cycle

  • Remove the washed items as soon as the wash cycle is finished.

  • Select either the “Casual” or the “Permanent Press” wash cycle. The slower spin speeds will reduce the amount of wrinkles.

  • Take care not to overload the washer, as tightly packed items will increase the chance of wrinkles.
