Although Apple does not release custom themes for the application, you can download and install independent, user-made skins to customize the program to suit your tastes.

Download the theme you want. You can find a wide variety of skins on GUI Mods and iTunes Skins (see References). Install any necessary fonts. Many themes require the use of specific fonts in order to look more appealing and iTunes commonly uses system standard fonts. Open the Windows Start Menu and open the "Control Panel." Once there, open the "Appearance and Themes" folder, then select "Font." This will open the font directory where all of the computer's text-related files are stored. Simply drag the True Type font file or files located inside of your unzipped theme folder into the font directory and it will automatically install the new font.

Install the theme. Most websites (including the ones listed above) will have their theme installation files as programs or .exe files. Once you initialize them, they will automatically install.

    • 5

Open or restart iTunes to make sure that the new skin was installed correctly .

Tips & Warnings

  • Most themes will have specific instructions for installation that can be found inside of the "read me" text document. You should read this, because most themes have specific instructions that should be carried out in a specific order for proper operation.

  • If you do not use the specific version of iTunes that your newly downloaded theme requires, there is the possibility that it can damage the program and prevent it from opening. If this happens, you will simply need to download and reinstall iTunes from Apple and try again. This occurrence will not effect your music library.
