How to Scan for Keystroke Loggers
Computer key loggers are generally malicious programs that record user keystrokes. However, they can also be used for legitimate purposes, such as for monitoring Internet usage in the workplace. In any case, their purpose is to record data without the typist knowing, which makes them a target for removal. Scanning for key loggers may be as simple as checking your list of installed programs. In some cases, special software may be needed. In some cases, it may not be possible to detect them.

Press press the key combination "Ctrl-Alt-Del." Task Manager opens up. Check for any suspicious running processes. If you can identify every active program as legitimate, you most likely do not have a key logger. However, key logger programs are designed for stealth, so many do not show up in Task Manager.

Check for any recently installed programs. Open your Control Panel and look at your list of installed programs. If there is anything new that you have not installed, you may have a key logger. Look up any unfamiliar programs on the Internet.

Run a scan with an anti-malware program (such as Norton Antivirus or Malwarebytes). Before scanning, update your program to ensure that you have the most comprehensive protection available. This is the most effective way to find malicious key loggers that have been installed without user permission.
