How to Install Yahoo IM
Yahoo! Messenger is a popular, multi-featured communications application that is easy to use. It features traditional text chat, voice chat, PC-to-phone calls, conferencing, file transfer, tabbed IM (Instant Messenger) windows, chat rooms and photo sharing. Yahoo! Messenger runs with a complete set of features on the Windows operating system. Other versions of Yahoo! Messenger run on the Mac, the iPhone and directly through any modern Web browser, but these iterations of the software do not have as many features as the Windows version.

Download the Yahoo! Messenger installer from the Yahoo! Messenger webpage. Run the installer as soon as the download is complete by double-clicking the icon of the application.

Select your installation options. The installer presents you with several choices, such as installing Yahoo! BrowserPlus or changing your Web browser's home page. Uncheck the features you do not want and click "Next."

Review the license agreement that follows, and then check the box to agree to the terms of the license and click "Next" again. If you do not agree with the license terms, you cannot install the application.

Complete the installation. The installer program will inform you of the download size for each feature you have selected, and will offer you an estimate of how long the download may take. Click "Install" and wait for the download to complete. The installation is automatic.

In order to use Yahoo! Messenger after you have installed it, you will need to create a Yahoo! ID. To do this easily, launch Yahoo! Messenger and click the "Get new Yahoo! ID..." link at the bottom of the program's window. You can use your Yahoo! ID to sign into the service and begin talking with other people.
While using the Yahoo! Messenger, you may find new friends and share stories with old ones. It is important to be aware that not everyone you encounter is friendly or honest. Do not share sensitive personal information with anyone, and keep in mind that no IM program is completely secure.
