Avocado Masks for All Skin Types

Next time you’re making guacamole, save some of the avocado to use on your face. This healthful fruit is good for your body inside and out. High in fat, avocado helps to add moisture to your skin when applied topically. Even if your skin isn’t dry, using avocado as a face mask will help to maintain healthy, glowing skin. So regardless of your skin type, throw together a quick avocado face mask to pamper your skin just as if you were at a spa.

Step 1

Scoop the flesh out of one medium-ripe avocado with a spoon. Put the flesh into a bowl, and mash it up well with a fork until it’s creamy.

Step 2

Add 1 tablespoon of honey, 1 teaspoon of lemon juice and 1 tablespoon of plain yogurt. Honey reduces inflammation and kills bacteria on the skin; lemon juice is antifungal, combats acne and evens out your skin tone; and yogurt is a natural cleanser that softens, soothes and tightens skin. Stir the ingredients with a spoon so they are mixed well.

Step 3

Rinse your face with warm water, then pat it dry with a soft towel.

Step 4

Scoop the avocado mixture out of the bowl with your fingers, and then smooth the mixture onto your face and neck.

Step 5

Leave the mask on your face for 15 to 20 minutes. Rinse it off with warm water and a washcloth. Splash your face with cool water after removing all of the mask to close up your pores.
