How to Install a Laptop Battery for a Compaq Armada M700

The Compaq Armada M700 laptop uses an eight-cell battery. Although the battery is rechargeable, it eventually wears out, which requires you to purchase and install a new battery. Installing the new battery is a simple task; it should take less than five minutes and it requires no tools. For best results, Compaq recommends using only an original-equipment battery, rather than an aftermarket or generic battery.

Instructions

1. Power off your Compaq laptop and close the screen. Bring it to a table.

2. Lift the right half of the Compaq up to expose the bottom edge. Hold it at this angle and slide the battery latch toward the back.

3. Grasp the battery and pull it down to remove it from the laptop.

4. Insert the new battery in its place. Make sure the cells are facing inward. The smooth side should be facing up. Lightly press the battery to snap the latch into place. Turn the laptop back on.

Tips & Warnings

• Enter your control panel and change your power settings to preserve battery power. Select "Power Saver" mode to make your battery last longer. Not only does this allow you to use the laptop longer between charges, but it increases your overall battery lifespan.
