Instructions

    • 1

Prepare your package for shipping. FedEx can do this for you at one of their FedEx Office Print & Ship Centers. They have the materials for standard and fragile packing, custom or high-tech packing. FedEx can customize a box for you and handle delicate electronic instruments like laptops or cell phones.

    • 2

Label your package with a shipping label. Ensure that you fill it in completely, including the recipient's full address. Make sure the label is visible and away from any seams or folds on the package. Don't forget to include your return address on the label as well.

Declare the value of the package on the insurance form. Remember that value is FedEx's maximum liability. If the package has a declared value over $500, the Direct Signature Required FedEx Delivery Signature Option will be applied. FedEx offers Declared Value Exception if you plan to ship items with a declared value up to $50,000 (jewelry, precious metals, and gemstones). This exception is allowed only for preferred FedEx customers and requires an application be completed.
