How to Make Gold Scratch-Off Paint

Use gold acrylic craft paint to make scratch-off lottery tickets.

If you plan to make a homemade lottery ticket for a friend or family member, the most important part is gold scratch-off paint. Homemade lottery tickets are a distinctive way to say "I love you." Make scratch-off rewards such as back rubs or doing the dishes. Or, put the phrase "Will you marry me?" behind the scratch-off paint for an engagement surprise. Of course, the proper paint mixture is needed for your scratch-off lottery ticket to be successful. Mix up a batch of your own gold scratch-off paint.

Things You'll Need

• Scissors
• Clear self-stick laminate
• Metallic gold acrylic paint
• Dish soap
• Paint brush

Instructions

1. Cut out a piece of clear self-stick laminate to fit over the text on the lottery ticket. Stick the laminate over the text.

2. Mix 2 parts metallic gold acrylic paint with 1 part dish soap.

3. Paint over the laminate piece carefully, then let the paint dry. Apply as many coats as needed to cover the text, letting each coat dry in between.

Tips & Warnings

• Cut a small shape out of a piece of card stock to make a stencil for the scratch-off area. (ref 2) Position the stencil over the laminate, then paint over the stencil to transfer the shape onto the ticket.

• Use any color paint to make scratch-off tickets.
