Thoroughly removing the smell of cigarette smoke from a home requires cleaning the walls and flooring, the two areas that absorb the most smoke.   • Baking soda
  • Vacuum cleaner
  • Vacuum attachment
  • White vinegar
  • Warm water
  • Large bucket
  • Soft-bristled brush
  • Essential oil

Instructions

      Open the windows in the home to draw out the smell. Cigarette smoke odors can become trapped inside of homes with poor air circulation.

      Sprinkle baking soda thoroughly over your furniture. Rub the baking soda into the furniture.

      Allow the furniture to absorb the baking soda overnight. Use a vacuum attachment to vacuum up the baking soda from the furniture.

      Make a solution of one part white vinegar and two parts warm water in a large bucket. Pour a cup-sized scoop of baking soda into the solution.

      Dip a soft-bristled brush into the solution, and then scrub the walls with the brush. Continue washing the walls until they are completely clean.

      Sprinkle the carpet thoroughly with baking soda. Mix a solution of five drops of essential oil with 1 cup of water and pour the solution into a spray bottle. Spray the carpet lightly with the solution.

      Allow the baking soda and essential oil to remain in the carpet overnight. Vacuum the carpet thoroughly to remove the baking soda. The essential oil will cause the carpet to smell fresh.
