How to Write a Conclusion Paragraph

How to Write a Conclusion Paragraph thumbnail
A conclusion paragraph gives the paper closure.

The purpose of a conclusion paragraph is to fuse all the ingredients of the paper into one succinct package for the reader. The challenge in writing the conclusion is not to repeat oneself or merely summarize. Instead, the writer will help the reader see how the introduction, thesis and main points all come together to present a solid argument, solution, course of action or new perspective.

Instructions

    • 1

Study the significant points of the paper. Decide how these points fit together to support the main point or thesis and write this down.

    • 2

Decide if there is a concrete end to the argument or thesis or if there are new strategies and questions to consider. Write these deductions down.

    • 3

Use a quotation or fact that supports the supposition and has yet to be used in the remainder of the paper.

    • 4

Read the answers to the previous steps and question why these statements are important to the reader. Write down the reasons why.

    • 5

Organize the sentences written in the previous steps to make a complete paragraph. Edit until the paragraph reads smoothly. Take care in making the last sentence the most satisfying of the paper.
