How to Check the Status of My Tax Return in Canada

You may check the status of your Canadian tax return online.

If you filed a tax return in Canada, the official Canada Revenue Agency website has a feature that will allow you to check the status of your tax return at any time. This service is free and is available to all citizens that have filed a tax return in the country. There is also a phone number that you can call if you have any questions about the status of your tax return or refund.

Instructions

1. Visit the "Quick Access" section at the official Canada Revenue Agency website, listed below in the resources section.

2. Click on the "Sign In" button.

3. Enter your information. You will need to enter your social insurance number, date of birth, calculated total income and the tax year. The calculated total income can be found on line 150 on a copy of your tax return.

4. Click "Continue." Your tax return status will be displayed on the page that loads.

Tips & Warnings

• If you have questions about your tax return or you would rather check the status of your tax return by phone, call the following number: 1-800-267-6999.

• You will only be able to access the "Quick Access" page at certain hours. On Monday through Saturday "Quick Access" is available from 3 a.m. through 12 a.m. PST. On Sunday, this service is available from 3 a.m. through 11 p.m. PST.
