QuickBooks Pro 2008 can use be used with Excel to make spreadsheets to track cash flow. The Cash Flow statements in QuickBooks Pro 2008 are based on the balance sheet and show the changes in assets and liabilities for the period. Excel spreadsheets can help you track the details of the cash received and the cash spent for the period.

Instructions

  1. Statement of Cash Flow Spreadsheet

      Choose "Reports" from the menu bar. From the drop-down menu, choose "Company & Financial," then choose "Statement of Cash Flows."

      When the report appears, choose the dates for the report. Dates appear in the menu bar at the top of the report.

      Choose "Classify Cash" from the menu bar.

      The Company Preferences will appear. Choose "Cash" or "Accrual." You may also modify the dates for the transactions, choosing due date or transaction date, and assign accounts to display on the report. When finished, choose "OK."

      Choose "Export" from the menu bar. There are two tabs, Basic and Advanced.

      Choose "Basic," and choose "Excel Spreadsheet."

      Choose "Advanced," and uncheck "Space between columns." By unchecking this, Excel will not insert blank columns between the downloaded columns of data.

      Choose "Export." QuickBooks will open Excel and download the spreadsheet.

    Cash Flow Forecast Spreadsheet

      Choose "Reports" from the menu bar. Then choose "Company & Financials," and choose "Cash Flow Forecast" from the drop-down menu.

      The Cash Flow Forecast displays changes in Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and Bank Accounts, and it shows Net Inflows of assets and the Projected Balance.

      Choose dates from the menu bar that you want to report.

      Choose the period you want to report, either weeks, months, quarter or year.

      Choose "Export" from the menu bar, and repeat Steps 5 through 8 from the first section above for exporting the QuickBooks data to Excel.
