How to Load the .22-250 Remington Rifle
The Remington .22-250 rifle is one of the several different calibers assigned to Remington's 700 line of bolt-action rifles--a line which also includes the Army's M24 sniper rifle and the Marine Corps M40 sniper rifle. Production of the .22-250 line was started in 1965, and the rifle has remained popular with small-game hunters and sport-shooters throughout its lifetime. One difficulty that new users of this rifle may find is the question of loading the rifle, as it does not feature any type of clip or magazine common to newer rifles. Fortunately, once you know how it is done, loading a Remington .22-250 is actually relatively simple.
Instructions
-
-
1
Lift the bolt lever and slide the bolt of the rifle back into the "Open" position.
-
2
Look down the hole created by pulling back the bolt and locate the opening for the internal clip. It will be located near the center of the hole.
-
-
3
Take a bullet from the box of shells and place it in the hole leading to the internal clip, then use your thumb to press the bullet down into the internal clip. There will be a moment of resistance, then the spring in the internal clip will depress and the bullet will click down into the clip.
-
4
Repeat Step 3 until the rifle is fully loaded--until the clip does not accept any more shells. If it feels like you are having to force the shell into the internal clip, stop loading the shell.
-
5
Slide the bolt forward and lower the bolt lever to chamber a round and lock the bolt in place. The Remington .22-250 is now loaded, and should be treated with the care and caution given to any loaded weapon. Once the bolt lever is lowered, immediately push the "safety" button to the "on" position and leave it there until you are ready to fire the weapon.
