The Disney Mix Max is a portable MP3 and video player. The trick to converting movies that will play on a Disney Mix Max player is to find a video conversion program that allows extensive manipulation of technical specification values.

Instructions

      Download and install a conversion program such as Prism Video Converter, Windows Media Encoder or Kyotesoft's Free Video Converter (see download links in the Resource section). These are all free Windows programs that will convert many different file formats.

      Run the conversion software and click "Add Files" from the top menu bar.

      Browse the computer's hard drive and locate the video file to be converted. Select the video file and click "Open."

      Click on the box labeled "Output Format" and select ".wmv" from the drop-down menu.

      Click on the "Encoder Options. . ." button. Select "Windows Media Video 9" as the video compressor. Type in a custom value of "384" for the video bitrate. Leave the sound compressor set to the default setting. Select anything with a sample rate between eight and 48 kHz for the box labeled "Sound format." Click the "OK" button to return to the main Prism screen.

      Click on the "Edit Output. . ." button andplace a check mark in the box next to "Resize Video." Select the radio button next to "Shrink or enlarge video to selected size," then type "220" in the "Width" box. Now type "176" in the "Height" box. If the framerate is set on anything other than 30fps, click the "Change framerate" box and adjust it to 30fps. Click "OK" to exit the output options.

      Click on "Browse" next to the "Output Folder" box and select a save location for the converted video file. Click the "OK" button.

      Click on the "Convert" button to begin converting the video file to Disney's Mix Max video format specifications.

Tips & Warnings

  • Mix Max was designed to play video formatted in WMV 9 at a resolution of 220 by 176, 30 frames per second, with a maximum data rate of 384 kbps.
