How to Delete History of Visited Websites

Save

Deleting your browsing history is helpful in many ways. Although privacy concerns are generally some of the most common reasons that Internet users delete the history of websites they have visited, deleting your browsing history is also helpful in freeing up hard disk space on your computer, especially if you have not deleted your history for a long time. Using your web browser for a length of time without deleting your website history can cause browsing issues. Therefore, delete your browsing history at specific intervals to ensure that your web browser runs smoothly.

Chrome 5.0

  • Open the web browser, click on the wrench icon and then select "Options."

  • Click on the "Clear browsing data" button. The "Clear browsing data" dialog box opens.

  • Select all of the check boxes and then choose "Everything" from the "Clear data from this period" menu. Delete your history by clicking on the "Clear browsing data" button.

Internet Explorer (IE) 8

  • Select the "General" tab, and then click on the "Delete" button located under the "Browsing History" section. The "Delete browsing history" dialog box opens.
