Like all modern web browsers, Microsoft Internet Explorer lets you bookmark webpages and save them for future reference. Because the browser is so tightly integrated with the Windows operating system, it stores these bookmarks in a conveniently located folder called "Favorites." Although you can delete your Favorites from Internet Explorer, you also have the option of manually removing them using the Windows Explorer interface. Once you know how to access the Favorites folder, getting rid of its contents becomes a very quick task.
Click the Windows "Start" button and select "Run." If you do not see this option, press the Windows logo key and the "R" key simultaneously.
Type "favorites" in the "Open" field and click "OK" to open the "Favorites" folder.
Highlight the Favorites you want to delete.
Right-click any highlighted Favorite and select "Delete."
Click "Yes" to confirm your choice and delete the highlighted Favorites.
Tips & Warnings
- You can also access your Favorites folder manually, instead of using the "Run" command. Double-click the "Computer" icon on your desktop and then double-click the "C:" drive icon. If you use Windows Vista or Windows 7, open the following folders: "Users" > "(Your user name)" > "Favorites." In Windows XP, open the following folders: "Documents and Settings" > "(Your user name)" > "Favorites."
