Backup music, videos and apps that you purchased in iTunes to protect yourself from data loss in case of computer problems. You can store a backup copy of iTunes on an external CD or DVD, and restore your purchases from iTunes later. To minimize the number of CDs or DVDs that you need for each backup, consider doing incremental backups of only the recently purchased songs and applications from iTunes after you have done a full iTunes library backup.
Things You'll Need
- CD or DVD burner
Select "Library" from the "File" menu located in the upper menu on the left-hand side of the screen.
Select "Backup to Disk" to backup the iTunes library to a CD or DVD.
Select the backup option that suites your needs. You can backup all of the music that is managed within iTunes or specifically backup iTunes purchases, such as music, videos and applications.
Press the "Back up" button.
Insert the backup disk (CD or DVD) into the appropriate drive. iTunes will prompt you to insert another disk as needed to complete the backup.
