How to Check Your Credit Card Statement Online

When you own a credit card, each month you receive monthly statements that give a breakdown of all activity associated with the credit card account. Although the credit card issuers are too many to name, their protocol that allows you to check your online statement remains quite similar across the board.

1. Visit the website of the company that issued you the credit card. Do not click on email links to check your credit card statement. Instead, type the address for the website directly into your browser's address bar. This will ensure that you do not fall victim to a "Phishing" scam that is intended to steal your account information.

2. Click on the "Log In," "Sign In," or "My Account" option that is located on the website. The exact wording may vary slightly. Most websites will require that you click on the "Register" link if you have never signed up to use the online banking option for your credit card. Once you are registered, you will be provided with the information you need to log on.

3. Enter the information that is required for you to log in and view your credit card statement. The exact information required will vary by site. For example, you may be required to enter your credit card number and a password, or a unique user name and password combination.
