How to Open the Hatchback on a 2007 Chevrolet Uplander

Like other minivans, the 2007 Chevrolet Uplander has a rear hatchback door, also known as a liftgate. This door provides access to the cargo department. The procedure to open the door may not be clear for a new owner; the hatchback door has no keyhole, and the handle will not open the hatchback door if it is locked. If the specified procedure does not help you open your hatchback door, the door may be malfunctioning. Bring your Uplander to a mechanic or to a nearby Chevrolet dealer to have it inspected.

  • Press the "Unlock" button on your keyless remote twice within five seconds. This unlocks the hatchback door. If you do not have your remote, open the driver-side door and press the "Unlock" button on the master switch.

  • Approach the rear of your Uplander. Examine your surroundings; make sure there is ample room behind the van for the hatchback door to open.

  • Grasp the hatchback door handle. Pull it toward you to open the door. Lift the door a few inches to partially open. Once partially opened, the door fully opens by itself.

Tips & Warnings

  • Push the door firmly down to close it.
