Making your own concrete molds is a relatively simple matter. You can buy numerous mold designs or simply use plastic containers in the right shape for your concrete projects. For instance, plastic Halloween candy containers can be used to create concrete pumpkins. The end cut off a 5 gallon bucket can be used to make round stepping stones. Use of common items or buy a mold, then you can make your own concrete objects.
Things You'll Need
- Plastic container
- Mold release agent
Select a mold. This can be a ready-made, purchased mold or one made from plastic containers, such as old buckets. If necessary, cut down the container to the right height.
Spray the inside of the mold with a concrete release agent. This makes removing dried concrete from the mold easier.
Mix the sack of concrete according to the instructions on the bag. Mix with water, stirring until you have a smooth consistency, without lumps of dry material.
Pour the concrete into the mold. Tap the mold or lightly shake it to force any air bubbles to the surface.
Allow concrete to dry, according to the times printed on the sack; this may vary from one make of concrete to another. Generally, expect a good 24-hour drying period.
Remove your molded concrete.
