How to Find the IP Address of My HP 4100N Printer

Save

The HP Laserjet 4100N printer is a midsize printer that can be networked with other printers and computers. Before you can connect the printer and use it on your network, you first need to configure the unit's IP address. The IP address is what allows the printer to communicate with the rest of your home or office network.

  • Find the printer's control panel. Press the right "Menu" button until the "EIO" menu appears.

  • Press the right "Item" key until you see the "CFG Network" option. Use the "Value" keys to change the setting to "Yes."

  • Press the right "Item" key until you see the "CFG TCP/IP" option. Use the "Value" key to change the option to "Yes."

  • Press the right "Item" arrow until you see the "DHCP" option. Use the "Value" keys to change the setting to "No."

  • Select the right "Item" arrow key until you see "IP Byte 1." Use the "Value" arrow key to change the setting to the first number in the IP address, then click "Select" to accept the setting. Repeat the process with "IP Byte 2," "IP Byte 3" and "IP Byte 4."

  • Press the right "Menu" button until the "Information" menu appears. Press the right "Item" arrow until the "Print configuration page" option appears. Press the "Select" button to send the configuration page to the printer. Wait for the configuration page to print, then look at the TCP/IP settings to make sure the settings are correct.
