Instructions for Sewing the Trim on a Pillow
The trim on pillows can tear loose, leaving the decorative edge dangling. To fix it, you'll likely need to also repair the original seam to which the fringe was originally attached. The task isn't complicated; you'll simply pull the edges together when sewing the trim back onto the pillow, whether the trim is a ruffle, welt cord or fringe. Hand sewing is most convenient because you won't need to remove the pillow's cover to make the repair. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1
Fold the raw edges of the pillow fabric under 1/2 inch. If the edges do not stay folded when you release the fabric, pin the folded edges down.
-
2
Position the trim between the folds, and pin through all of the layers. Place a pin every 2 inches so the trim will stay in place.
-
-
3
Cut an 18-inch piece of thread, thread the needle, and knot one end of the thread.
-
4
Slide the sharp end of the needle inside of the opening, and push the point out through the fold. Slide the needle through the trim and catch the folded edge of the fabric on the other side of trim.
-
5
Move the needle 1/4 inch forward, and push it through the fabric, the trim and the fabric on the other side.
-
6
Reposition the needle 1/8 inch, past where you pulled it through and push it through the fabric, trim and fabric on the other side again. Move 1/4-inch forward and repeat the 1/8-inch-backward-and-1/4-inch-forward stitches until you have reattached the length of the trim to the pillow.
-
7
Anchor the line of stitches by making three tiny stitches, with each one directly on top of the one before, at the end of the opening. Trim off the thread using scissors.
