How to Create a Calendar Poll

Social networking sites have become efficient at polling members of their groups to discover the members' opinions about a given topic. Group members can, at the flick of a computer mouse, note whether they like a topic or whether they will attend an event. Web calendar managers can also configure their calendars to create a poll through the calendar's entries. The calendar's managers can then poll the people who share the calendar to quickly assess what these people have to say.

Things You'll Need

  • Internet access
  • Create a Google Account. Insert personal information and contact information as requested on the Gmail sign-up site. Select a password and type in the requested security verification. Authorize the agreement with Google and provide a cell phone number for receiving text messages. Submit the lettered and numbered code that Google texts to the cell phones into the site's code verification field. Open the new Gmail user account.

  • Enter the user name and password into the appropriate fields of the Gmail homepage. Open Gmail and click "Calendar" (in the upper lefthand corner). Click "Continue" when "Get started with Google Calendar" appears. Open the Google calendar.

  • Type relevant appointments and meetings on the calendar.

  • Enter a polling question into the calendar.

  • Click on "Edit," and on the right side enter the name of the "Guests" who will view the polling question. As part of the entry, request that guests reply to the polling question by replying to the email that arrives in their in-box.

  • Tally the polling results.
