How to Remove & Redirect Internet Explorer
There are a number of free web browsers available from numerous companies. While Internet Explorer is the default browser on many Windows systems, you can uninstall this Microsoft browser at any time and replace it with another browser. Internet pages and websites will continue to be accessible regardless of the browser you are utilizing.

Click on "Start," followed by "Control Panel." Click on "Add/Remove Programs." For Windows Vista, click on "Control Panel Home" after "Control Panel" and choose "Uninstall a Program."

Scroll through the list of programs until you see a listing for "Microsoft Internet Explorer." Click on "Microsoft Internet Explorer" once to highlight it.

Click on "Uninstall" next to "Internet Explorer" under Windows XP and older versions. For Windows Vista onward click on "Uninstall" at the top of the "Control Panel" window while "Internet Explorer" is highlighted. Wait for the uninstaller to complete and click "OK" or "Finish" when prompted.

Download a replacement web browser to redirect to. You can view a list of free web browsers complete with download links in the Resources section of this article. Click on "Download Now" on the website of the chosen browser and follow the on screen install instructions. Restart the computer if prompted.

Double-click on the new browser's shortcut icon on your desktop and click on the "Tools" menu option in the top of the browser. Some browsers may instead have "Settings" instead of "Tools."

Click on "Make Default Browser" or click on "Internet Options" followed by an item with the words "default browser" in it. Click the check box next to this item and click "OK" or "Apply." Restart the browser if prompted.
