How to Install My Labtec Webcam

Labtec is a computer manufacturing company that produces a variety of system add-ons, including speakers, multimedia devices and webcams. Installing a webcam is similar to installing other hardware on the computer because the computer requires a specific data driver uploaded to the system. The driver informs the computer how exactly it needs to use the webcam. In addition, there is software provided, allowing you to easily capture video content from the Labtec camera.

Things You'll Need

• Labtec webcam
• Driver installation CD
• Software installation CD

Instructions

1. Plug the USB data cable running out the back of the Labtec webcam into one of the USB ports on the computer. In a moment, the computer will say it has detected a new piece of hardware.

2. Insert the driver installation CD. The installation wizard will load onto the screen. Click "Next" on the welcome page, then accept the installation name and location. (Changing these can result in the computer's inability to detect the driver.) Choose "Install" to install the drivers for the Labtec webcam on the computer.

3. Eject the driver installation CD once the installation process has finished. (A prompt window declares the installation complete.) Insert the software installation CD, and the software wizard appears on the screen.

4. Click "Next," then accept the license agreement. Select "Next" twice for the installation name and location, and select "Install" to install the software for the Labtec webcam and complete the setup process.
