How to Close a GoDaddy Account

Close a GoDaddy account to release your domain and remove your website.

Internet users who register domains and maintain websites often utilize the services of GoDaddy. GoDaddy provides domain registrations and web-hosting services. As a GoDaddy customer, you have the ability to cancel your account whenever you wish. Within 24 hours of your cancelling directive, any domains you registered and hosted with GoDaddy will become available for anyone else to register and use.

Instructions

1. Visit the GoDaddy website and log in to your account using your customer number and password.

2. Click the "My Account" tab in the right corner of the page and click "My Products" beneath these tabs.

3. Click "Hosting" and then click the account you wish to cancel to highlight it.

4. Select the "Cancel Account" option and select "Save Changes." This will cancel your account with GoDaddy.

Tips & Warnings

• When you close a GoDaddy account, all of the files and content you had uploaded to the GoDaddy server will automatically delete with the account's closing. Save copies of your files and information to your hard drive prior to canceling the account to preserve your data.
