How to Fix a Squeaky Insole

A squeaky shoe will draw unwanted attention.

When an insole does not fit correctly, it may slide around within the shoe while you are walking, creating a squeaking sound. Replacement insoles available from a drugstore or shoe store may not fit perfectly within a pair of shoes that you already own. Fortunately, you can fix your squeaky insole quickly and easily for little to no expense.

Instructions

1. Remove the insole from the squeaking shoe. If you are unable to easily move the insole with your hand, it is probably not the source of the squeaking.

2. Apply a small amount of lotion to the bottom of the insole. This lubricates the insole and keeps it from rubbing against the sole of the shoe, thus eliminating the squeak.

3. Replace the insole in your shoe.

• Do not remove insoles that come glued to the shoe.
