Using a dowel rod and plastic-coated cord to make a bubble wand is easy. A bubble wand is simply a stick with a closed, empty shape at one end. Bubble wands are safe for most ages, and most children and adults can assemble this bubble wand, which makes it a good family craft. This craft could also be done at a birthday party or play group.

Things You'll Need

  • 9-inch dowel rod, at least 1 inch in diameter
  • 9-inch plastic-coated cord, 1 to 2 inches in diameter
  • Electrical tape
  • Scissors
  • Tray
  • Bubble soap

Instructions

    • 1

      Wrap the last inch of both ends of the cord around the top of the dowel rod to make a loop.

      Wrap a piece a piece of electrical tape around the ends of the cord around the dowel rod.

    • 3

      Pour bubble soap into a tray. Dip the circle cord into the tray. Lift and wave through the air to make bubbles.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use plastic-coated wire cord to make shaped wands.
