How to Setup Comcast High-Speed

How to Setup Comcast High-Speed thumbnail
Cable broadband can be 100 times faster than dial up.

Comcast is a provider of high-speed Internet through their cable lines. Cable modems are among the fastest types of high-speed Internet connections, but Comcast also provides even faster Internet access through their fiber optic lines. Setting up Comcast high-speed Internet is extremely easy and, in many cases, they will mail you a kit to set up the service yourself rather than waiting for a service person.

Instructions

    • 1

Verify that Comcast has turned on the connection to your house and that your service ready date has started or passed. You will have to call Comcast to do this.

    • 2

Set up the cable modem by connecting a coaxial cable from the cable outlet in your house to the coaxial connection on the cable modem. Connect a network cable from the cable modem out to your computer's network card.

    • 3

Insert the Comcast installation CD into the disc drive on your computer. The disc will guide you to do some of the things you have already done, but will also connect you to Comcast to set up your account. Just click on the directions on the CD and enter your personal information when prompted.
