Blackberry Pearl 8100 Data Transfer Instructions

The BlackBerry Pearl 8100 can also be used as a portable storage solution for small files. Transferring files from your computer to your BlackBerry Pearl 8100 is a simple process and only takes a few minutes.

      Connect your BlackBerry Pearl to the computer using the USB cable that was bundled with the phone. Plug the micro USB end of the cable into the side of the phone (where the data port is) and then plug the standard USB end into your computer's USB port.

      Open the "Computer" utility from the start menu (or "My Computer" in Windows XP) and select the "BlackBerry Pearl" icon. A new window will pop up. In

      Open a new Windows Explorer window and then highlight the files you want to transfer.

      Go back to the BlackBerry Pearl 8100 window and open the directory where you want to store your files. If you want to add the files to an existing folder, you can just leave the window as is. Right-click inside the BlackBerry Pearl 8100 window and select "New Folder" if you want to create a new directory for your files. You can then name your folder.

      Drag and drop the files you want into the selected directory. A file transfer window will pop up. Once this window disappears, the transfer is complete and you can disconnect your phone.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you are transferring files for use with a specific application (for instance videos or music for the media player application), make sure you transfer them to the directory associated with that application.

  • If you have the BlackBerry Media Manager application, you can also transfer files to your phone using this program. Launch the application and follow the on-screen instructions to transfer the files.

  • Files over 3MB cannot be transferred.
