How to Install Skype on the iPad

You can use your iPad to conduct video chats with others by installing Skype.

You can use Apple's iPad for reading e-books and social networking, but you can also turn it into a telephone with video capabilities by downloading Skype from the application store for free. The application allows you to make unlimited Skype-to-Skype calls or pay for the ability to call landlines and mobile phones.

Instructions

1. Tap the "App Store" icon on your iPad. Tap the search field and use the keyboard to type "Skype," then click "Search."

2. Tap the free "Skype" app that appears in the search list and tap the "Install App" button.

3. Enter your iTunes password when prompted.

Tips & Warnings

• To use Skype, you will need a Skype account. If you have one, simply tap the Skype app on your iPad to open it and enter your Skype name and password. If not, click "Create an account" after opening the application.

• You can search for Skype contacts by clicking the "Contacts" icon to make free Skype-to-Skype calls to other Skype users. Click the "Call" icon and you can enter a number to call, then click the green "Call" button to connect (you will need to purchase Skype credits to use this calling feature).
