How to Refinish a Birdbath
Keeping your birdbath clean is the main line of maintenance required. However, over time the original sealer finish on your concrete birdbath can wear and erode away. Refinishing is a simple matter of spraying on new sealer, but should only be done after the birdbath has been thoroughly cleaned. Painting your birdbath is optional. Does this Spark an idea?

Clean the birdbath. Soap and water may not be enough, especially if you have any sort of algae problem. For that, clean your birdbath with bleach. Rinse it well and allow it to dry out.

Paint the birdbath if desired, using outdoor latex paint and a paintbrush. You'll need at least two or three coats to completely cover the concrete. If you choose to paint, let the paint dry thoroughly. Give it a full day to be sure.

Refinish your concrete birdbath with concrete sealer spray. Simply spray on and allow to dry, according to directions. For lasting results, you may need to reapply the sealer a few times each season as it will wear because of weathering. Do not add water back into the bowl until after the sealer has dried. Again, leave it in the sun for a day to be sure.
