How to Recover Deleted Files Without Utilities
Although there are literally dozens of free-to-use utilities available on the Internet for recovering deleted files, you may choose to not use a utility program. This removes a great deal of your available options and prevents you from recovering "permanently" deleted files. However, both Windows and Mac based computers have a safety feature that allows you to restore files deleted to the operating system's safety net folder.
Instructions

1
Double-click the "Recycle Bin" in Windows and the "Trash" in a Mac. A small window opens with all of the files deleted from the computer but stored in the safety folder.
-
2
Right-click the file you want to recover and select "Restore" from the pull-down menu. The file disappears from the open window.
-
-
3
Select "Restore All" if you want to recover all of the files from the Trash or Recycle Bin.
-
4
Close out the Recycle Bin or Trash. Access the recovered files by navigating to the content's original location on the hard drive.
