How to Add Money to a Prepaid Alltel Phone

Prepaid phones from companies such as Alltell enable you to have a cell phone without signing a lengthy contract. If you use your cell phone infrequently, you can even save money since you pay only for minutes used instead of a monthly charge. It's easy to add minutes to your phone.

Instructions

Via Phone

1. Buy an Alltel prepaid refill card in the amount you want from a local retailer.

2. Find the identification number on the back of the card. You need it to transfer money from the card to your account.

3. Call the number on the back of the card. Enter the information requested by the automated phone system to transfer the money to your account.

Via Internet

1. Go to Alltel.com to add money to your phone. Enter your zip code to determine if you can go through the Alltel website or Verizon website.

2. Register your phone with Alltel if you have not already done so. Log in to your account once you are registered.

3. Click on the "Add Money To My Account Now" button at the top of the page.

4. Choose the number of minutes you want to add. Then follow the instructions to pay for the minutes and click the "submit" button to finalize the transaction.

Tips & Warnings

• In some regions, Alltel is now Verizon service. The Alltel website will direct you to the Verizon website if your phone is now serviced by Verizon. Contact Verizon for more information on how this transition affects you.
