How to Start a Car Wash Company
It is a fact of life that if you drive your car out in the world, it will eventually get dirty. Some people will just leave it as it is. Some people will wash it themselves. And some people will take it to a car wash and let someone else handle it. The car wash business can be very up and down in terms of traffic, and if you choose to start one it is a good idea to do a good deal of research before you open for business.

1
Create a business plan, or hire a marketing agency who has experience writing business plans to do it for you. This will act as a blueprint to help guide your business as it grows.
-
2
Decide if you will open a franchise or an independent car wash. Each choice has its benefits. A franchise will offer you more in the way of start up and marketing support, while as an independent you will ultimately have more freedom.

-
3
Decide if you will run a fully automated or partially automated car wash. The typical conveyor system from start to finish is fully automated, while a partially automated car wash will have employees helping out for part of the process.
-
4
Secure a location for your car wash. Finding one on a busy street would be ideal to take advantage of the traffic on a day-to-day basis. Also obtain a business license and any other permits you require to operate from city hall.
-
5
Promote your car wash with fliers distributed in your area. Include offers and coupons with savings and incentives. Create a website to display your business information, services and price packages. Start a 'frequent washer' program, a referral program, and offer a prepay card.
